Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Purchase materials and services in support of MRO and R&D requirements.
  • Manage and procure low cost commodities to support production in accordance with the computerized ERP/MRP system.
  • Monitor/expedite POs to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Initiate RFQ/RFPs and evaluate supplier bids and contracts.
  • Process and coordinate supplier material returns of defective product.
  • Compose and negotiate blanket PO’s where appropriate and cost effective.
  • Coordinate outside processing with sub-contractors and production planners.
  • Manage and develop supplier relationships to reduce costs, improve & maintain quality and ensure on-time delivery of purchased materials.
  • Responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels for purchased commodities.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory maintenance data such as lead time, reorder point, economic order quantities and safety stock levels.
  • Coordinate with Planning and Engineering to implement ECO’s appropriately.
  • Interface with suppliers, QA, and Engineering to resolve quality issues.
  • Work with finance to resolve Accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with other procurement/material projects as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

Required Qualifications and Background
  • A High School diploma is required.  A BS or AA degree is preferred.   
  • Any APICS or ISM/NAPM training and/or certification is desirable.
  • A minimum of 1-4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • Experience with electronic components, printed circuit board manufacture, production supplies, hardware, chemicals,   adhesives, printed goods, and packaging is desirable.  
  • Experience with an ERP/MRP system is required.  
  • Experience in procuring per MRP requirements is required.
  • Ability to negotiate terms and pricing for materials and services is critical.
  • Ability to read blueprints, work with Gerber files, and comprehend specification sheets is desirable.
  • Must be proficient with windows-based personal computers.   Excel, Word and email are required.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.  
  • A customer-service oriented attitude is a plus.
  • Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be highly organized and able to multi-task.  
  • Attention to detail is critical.
